Laura, a film directed by Hanung Bramantyo, portrays the struggle of a young woman who strives to rise from a period of deep adversity. This narrative makes the film compelling and relevant as a medium for language learning, particularly in the study of pragmatics. The purpose of this research is to describe the forms and functions of expressive speech acts in the development of the film’s plot. This study employs a qualitative descriptive method. The data were collected using the observation and note-taking techniques. Data analysis was carried out through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The findings reveal that expressive speech acts in Laura consist of expressing feelings (24 data), expressing gratitude and appreciation (15 data), apologizing (8 data), and complaining and criticizing (7 data). No data related to congratulatory expressive acts were found. The functions of these expressive speech acts contribute significantly to shaping the emotional progression of the storyline. Thus, expressive speech acts in the film Laura are predominantly realized through the expression of feelings.
